Abstract

Molecular hydrogen (H2) has attracted growing attention as a novel biomedical agent. Multiple clinical trials have documented favorable outcomes in conditions such as neuromuscular disorders, cardiometabolic diseases, and cancer, with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions identified as primary mechanisms. This review examines the medicinal properties of H2 specifically within the context of musculoskeletal medicine, aiming to offer an updated and practical overview for clinicians and health professionals active in this specialty area.

Mechanism

H2 is proposed to exert protective effects on musculoskeletal tissues primarily through selective scavenging of reactive oxygen species and suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokine signaling.
